Warmer Than Gold is the first full-length album released under the streamlined moniker GUV (formerly Young Guv), the long-running project of Toronto-based musician Ben Cook (also of Fucked Up and No Warning). The album was released on January 30, 2026, via Run For Cover Records.
The album marks a stylistic shift, blending Cook’s signature jangly power-pop with a heavy influence from early 90s Britpop, Madchester, and "baggy" dance rhythms. Inspired by his childhood years spent between Toronto and England, the record features expanded production with breakbeats, grit-flecked shoegaze riffs, and lush dream-pop textures. Key collaborators on the project include Hatchie, Meg Mills (Turnstile), Darcy Baylis, and James Matthew Seven.
