My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the fifth studio album by American rapper and producer Kanye West, released on November 22, 2010, through Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records.
Following a period of intense public controversy and a self-imposed exile in Hawaii, West retreated to Honolulu's Avex Recording Studio to organize what became known as the "Rap Camp." He brought together an unprecedented collection of legendary producers, vocalists, and musical icons, including Mike Dean, No I.D., Jay-Z, Rihanna, Pusha T, Rick Ross, Elton John, and Bon Iver. Sonically, the album is a maximalist masterpiece that bridges all of West's previous musical eras. It fuses the soulful sampling of his early work, the symphonic grandeur of Late Registration, the arena-rock ambition of Graduation, and the stark, emotionally raw drum-machine textures of 808s & Heartbreak.
