The Very Best of the Warner Bros. Sessions 1985–1991 has been reissued on vinyl for the first time ever via Rhino Records. Originally released as a compact disc compilation in 2007, this edition chronicles the experimental final chapter of the jazz titan's career, highlighting his shift into synth-heavy arrangements, pop covers, and street-level electronic grooves.

The tracks blend stripped-down, groove-oriented electronics and open improvisation. Muted trumpet lines float over dense synth beds and funk grooves. The era's architecture was largely defined by bass virtuoso and producer Marcus Miller, alongside contributions from Kenny Garrett, John Scofield, and Quincy Jones.
