Happy Thought School is the upcoming third full-length album by Zoon (the Anishinaabe-Canadian shoegaze project led by songwriter Daniel Monkman). The album is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 19, 2026, via Paper Bag Records.
The record's title references Monkman’s childhood experiences at a school in East Selkirk, Manitoba. Despite the institution's optimistic name, Monkman endured intense racism there as one of the only Indigenous students. The music explores this painful sublayer alongside joyful pop textures, taking inspiration from the early-2000s top-20 radio hits Monkman used as a refuge.
