Amon Amarths newest album represents a significant milestone for the veteran band, utilizing a unique "one song at a time" writing and recording process. Instead of writing after touring, the band composed tracks while on the road, completing the album across two separate sessions at producer Jacob Hansen's studio in Denmark. Heavily grounded in Norse mythology, The Allfather Awakens introduces new sonic elements to their signature Viking-themed death metal, including "Upphaf," the band's first-ever acoustic track, which features a translated stanza from the prophetic Norse poem Völuspá.
