(CD) The Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane (2026 Remaster)

16 Lovers Lane is the critically acclaimed sixth studio album by the Australian indie rock band The Go-Betweens, released on August 19, 1988, through Beggars Banquet Records. Co-fronted by the brilliant songwriting duo of Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, the record serves as a beautiful, acoustic-driven blend of "London melancholy and Sydney sunshine." After spending several years in England, the band returned to Australia, replacing bassist Robert Vickers with John Willsteed before recording at Sydney's Studios 301. Widely hailed as their definitive masterpiece, the record pairs lush, accessible jangle-pop melodies with romantic, open, and heartfelt lyrics. Tragically, it was the final release from the band's original incarnation before their 1989 breakup.
