tpiatw is composer/guitarists Aeryn Jade Santillan & Andrew Noseworthy simultaneously on vox, guitars, and laptop programming for the project. The members met while attending NYU where they bonded over their love of DIY hardcore, The XFiles, Star Fox 64, and ironically listening to Nu Metal. tpiatw was formed upon discovering a Yelp review of a terrible dive bar where they drank between classes. The band’s sound overlaps the boundaries between mathcore, postpunk, screamo, experimental electronic, parody and contemporary classical composition. Songs about tacos, alien conspiracies, a great beer, a midwest waterpark, and Grimace draw their inspiration from Yelp reviews, plunderphonics, vaporwave, and absurd internet culture. tpiatw’s debut fulllength extends the instrumentation of the conventional hardcore duo by featuring frequent collaborators saxophonist Shelley Washington, sound/synth artists Phong Tran and Adam Cuthbert.
