God's Country is the critically acclaimed debut studio album by the Oklahoma City quartet Chat Pile, released on July 29, 2022, through The Flenser. Described by the band as "Oklahoma’s specific brand of misery," the record is a harrowing, claustrophobic masterpiece of modern noise rock and sludge metal. Its lyricism serves as a grim manifestation of American nihilism, explicitly confronting societal horrors like homelessness, drug addiction, mass shootings, and the meat-grinder nature of global capitalism.
