Belladonna Nocturne is the upcoming instrumental ambient album by legendary Canadian producer, composer, and musician Daniel Lanois. Scheduled for release on June 19, 2026.
Belladonna Nocturne serves as a thematic, dreamlike sequel to Lanois' acclaimed, Grammy-nominated 2005 instrumental masterpiece, Belladonna. Composed entirely by Lanois and co-produced alongside Wayne Lorenz, the project eschews conventional song structures to present an immersive, cinematic world of sound. Lanois constructs these atmospheric soundscapes using his signature sonic architecture, blending emotional pedal steel, piano, guitar, and multi-layered textures.
Described by Lanois as "a string of exotic selections designed to transport a listener to exotic thoughts", the 14-track album features guest contributions from longtime, high-profile collaborators including Emmylou Harris, Brian Blade, and Daryl Johnson. The lead singles, "Steel Mill" (which includes Jim Wilson on bass and Jermaine Holmes on drums) and the Hamilton/Burlington-inspired "At the Foot of the Skyway Bridge", are already available to stream.
