This album is something I had the pleasure of working on for the last 4 years.. writing songs on tour, at home, recording demos wherever and finishing them back in LA. Getting to work with my band for the first time in the recording process was so incredible.. Cowabunga on bass lines, and Sweet T co-producing some of my favorite songs on the album just elevated the vibe and liveliness of the music all across the board. ‘Hot n Glassy’ really has a double meaning… It can be about the highs and lows of life.. times of celebration, family, friends, and fulfillment.. and on the other side the times of devastation, depression, uncertainty, hopelessness. But also just the perfect kind of day at any beach anywhere.. lake, river, ocean, etc. To me a hot n glassy day with perfect peeling waves off a point on some distant coast sounds like heaven. So I was going after writing songs that could transport you to that hot n glassy kinda day.. while also trying to balance it with the honesty of life.. no matter what the sound or genre or whatever it is I just wanted it to be authentic.. using my life’s experiences both good and bad, singing about good times and hard times, beach days and broken homes, catching waves and fades. Can’t have happiness without sadness. Some songs are about my struggles with addiction from a young age, and then about trying to grow up into a better man and father than I was shown.. hot and the glassy. The fire and the water. just writing and producing something that felt true to my roots, but helping me let go of the past and look to the future. Music is my medicine and therapy. I wanted to make something that people around here, and far beyond, would feel proud bumping around town. Hope ya dig ‘Hot n Glassy’.
