"WHO ASKED?" is a brand-new album by the acclaimed progressive jazz duo DOMi & JD BECK.
Like their signature sound, the project heavily utilizes JD Beck’s breakneck, highly controlled drum patterns. His acoustic snare tuning mimics the electronic textures of 90s Jungle, IDM, and boom-bap hip-hop beats.
DOMi Louna drives the arrangements using multi-layered vintage synth lines, mixing 70s jazz-fusion chords with the colorful, nostalgic blips of early 2000s video game soundtracks.
The phrase "Who Asked?" perfectly fits the duo's signature Gen Z internet humor. Their concepts rely on ironic, self-deprecating skits and winking pivots designed to completely demystify the stiff, hyper-serious reputation of traditional instrumental jazz.
