The Blue Note Tone Poet Vinyl Edition of Ike Quebec’s Bossa Nova Soul Samba is scheduled for release alongside Jackie McLean's Vertigo on August 7, 2026.
Originally recorded and released in 1962, Bossa Nova Soul Samba represents tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec's unique take on the Brazilian bossa nova craze sweeping the jazz world. Rather than a passing gimmick, Quebec paired the breezy Brazilian rhythms with his signature big, sultry tone and deep blues roots. In a bittersweet historical note, this was Quebec's final album; his brief artistic comeback was cut short when he passed away from lung cancer just three months after the session at age 44
