The Blue Note Tone Poet Vinyl Edition of Jackie McLean's album Vertigo is an upcoming premium audiophile reissue scheduled for release on August 7, 2026.
Though recorded primarily in 1963 (with one track from 1959), Vertigo was shelved in the Blue Note vaults for nearly two decades before its initial archival release in 1980 as part of the label's LT Series. The album serves as a fascinating transition piece recorded just two months before McLean's avant-garde masterpiece, One Step Beyond. True to its name, it covers a diverse palette of styles including hard bop, post-bop, sophisticated funk, and slow blues.
