Vinyl Reissue
The 40th Anniversary Edition of John Lee Hooker's Jealous celebrates a pivotal moment in the blues legend's late-career revival. Though recorded in 1982, the album remained unreleased until 1986. It marked Hooker's first collection of original material in years and effectively set him on the comeback trail that led to his multi-Grammy-winning landmark album, The Healer, three years later.
Unlike many of his later records, which relied heavily on a parade of high-profile guest stars, Jealous is a raw, "down-and-dirty" performance featuring Hooker backed tightly by his own seasoned, touring band. The tracking includes highly charged, reimagined deep cuts pulled from his early catalog. The release was both a critical and commercial success for the artist, earning a W.C. Handy Award and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album. This special 40th-anniversary reissue has been remastered for vinyl by Vlado Meller Mastering.
