Car Button Cloth is the seventh studio album by American alternative rock band The Lemonheads, released on October 15, 1996, through Atlantic Records. Serving as the final record under their major-label contract before a decade-long hiatus, the album is heavily driven by frontman Evan Dando, who played the majority of the instruments himself alongside former Dinosaur Jr. drummer Patrick "Murph" Murphy. The record features a looser, slightly darker, and more eclectic edge than their previous breakout hits, seamlessly blending bittersweet jangle-pop with quirky lo-fi tracks, punk tendencies, and acoustic melancholia.
