(LP) Machine Girl - Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X) [2LP]

Machine Girl's seventh full-length album, Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X), is continuation of the concepts introduced in their 2024 album, MG Ultra, and a further exploration into the darker aspects of the human psyche. The album marks the band's first work as a trio with Matt Stephenson, Sean Kelly, and Lucy Caputi. 

 

The music on Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X) is characterized by the band's signature fusion of genres, with rave, metal, punk, and hard-hitting electronics clashing to create "kaleidoscopic blasts of vibrant colour and visceral sound". The album expands on the psychological themes of its predecessor, drawing on the writings of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung. According to Stephenson, the album delves into the "collective unconscious" and "shadow self," framing it as a necessary step for self-completion and a form of resistance against technology-driven systems.
