Dance Therapy draws inspiration from '70s sci-fi sounds and Italo-disco, reflecting the artist's background as Norway's "queen of disco" in her DJ career. The album was crafted in a remote cabin in the woods while Schjelderup navigated a series of severe personal losses, serving as her own way of dealing with pain through music. The resulting sound is a retro-futuristic fever dream.
