RATS' debut album, Rule the World, was two years in the making and showcases a "melting pot of indie anthems". The album blends punk, ska, and modern rock, while also drawing from hip-hop with frontman Joe Maddocks' lyrical observations on contemporary British life. Maddocks has drawn comparisons to artists like Jamie T and Mike Skinner of The Streets. The band gained attention with their 2021 single "Patsy Decline" and had the opportunity to support Liam Gallagher at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022.
