Over the course of ten songs Rex Tycoon conjures the energy of beer-soaked basement parties as well as meandering, soul searching drives. It's eclectic but consistent, showing the band's flexibility and unique stylistic foundation. Guitarist and vocalist Austin Reesman's knack for storytelling reaches it's pinnacle with the album closer "Jesus Drives," a bluesy, straight ahead rocker that relays the reality and drudgery of the working class people doing their best to survive under untenable circumstances.
