(LP) Rubel - Casas (Limited Blue Vinyl)

Casas is the critically acclaimed second studio album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Rubel, released on March 2, 2018, through Dorileo. Conceived after Rubel spent six months living in Los Angeles, the record seamlessly expands upon his folk-infused Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) origins by embedding a heavy 2010s hip-hop and contemporary R&B pulse. Drawing aesthetic inspiration from artists like Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler, The Creator, Casas juxtaposes acoustic guitars, sweeping cinematic horn arrangements, and traditional Brazilian rhythms against low-fi electronic drum machines and MPC programming. The ambitious album went on to earn a Latin Grammy nomination and solidified Rubel's status at the forefront of modern Brazilian music.
