Rags to Rufus is the breakthrough 1974 album by Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, blending funk, soul, R&B, and jazz influences into a vibrant, groove-driven sound. It established the group's signature style: tight musicianship, infectious rhythms, and Khan's powerhouse vocals. The album's defining moment is the Stevie Wonder-penned hit “Tell Me Something Good”, which brought the album to commercial success. Widely regarded as one of the classic funk-soul albums of the 1970s, Rags to Rufus helped launch Chaka Khan as a major star and cemented Rufus as one of the era's premier bands. This new vinyl release is the first since 1980.
