This debut marks the band's only studio recording with original drummer John Rutsey before Neil Peart joined. It is heavily influenced by British blues-rock and hard rock icons like Led Zeppelin and Cream. The album features a raw, high-energy sound that contrasts with the progressive rock complexity the band would later master. Recorded in late 1973, it includes the enduring rock radio staple "Working Man" and showcases Geddy Lee's powerful vocals alongside Alex Lifeson's heavy guitar riffs.
