Limited Black Vinyl Edition

"Great Day" is a legendary library music masterpiece by composers Simon Haseley and Peter Reno, originally released in 1972 on the Music De Wolfe label. Widely considered the "Holy Grail" of the De Wolfe catalogue, Great Day is a premier example of 1970s orchestral drama-funk. This album is a cornerstone of hip-hop history. Its sophisticated breakbeats and moody textures have been sampled by Madlib, The Alchemist, El-P, and Rakim. Most notably, the track "Hammerhead" provided the foundation for Beyoncé’s "A Woman Like Me." The record balances high-octane "car chase" funk with lush, melancholic soul. It features tight drumming, aggressive brass sections, and the signature "twangy" guitar work of the era. Tracks like "Bora" and "Hammerhead" are textbook examples of the "Sweeney-core" sound—gritty, urban instrumental music used in 70s British crime dramas.

The new edition is limited to 750 copies, featuring audio remastered by Simon Francis from the original tapes and a replica of the iconic original sleeve.
