Vinyl Reissue
Originally compiled and issued by Blue Note in 1980, The Art of the Trio brings together sublime, hard-bop trios and soulful renditions of jazz standards that the legendary pianist recorded across three separate sessions between 1957 and 1958. The collection showcases Clark’s signature swinging rhythm, profound lyricism, and intricate bebop vocabulary.
The compilation features an elite class of rhythm sections backing Clark, including legendary bassists Paul Chambers and Jymie Merritt, alongside powerhouse drummers Philly Joe Jones and Wes Landers.
True to the Tone Poet standard, this stereo reissue was produced by Joe Harley and mastered entirely from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. The 180g heavy vinyl records are pressed at Record Technology Inc. (RTI) and packaged in a high-end, tip-on gatefold jacket. The release includes a dedicated insert booklet featuring archival session photography by Francis Wolff and analytical liner notes by jazz critics Syd Schwartz, Ben Sidran, and Bob Porter.
