Crusher is the debut studio album by Sooj, a collaborative musical project formed by members of the iconic California slowcore band Duster (Clay Parton and Canaan Dove Amber) alongside North Carolina electronic producer Matt Cagle, better known as Dirty Art Club.
Described as a "low-lit transmission" connecting Portland, Charlotte, and Santa Cruz, Crusher expands on the sound of their 2024 debut single by merging Duster’s slowcore drift with Dirty Art Club’s sample-heavy, collage-minded production. According to the official description, the album aims for a "liminal present" rather than nostalgia, acting as a "third space built from tape hiss, chopped memory, and late-night signal bleed".
