Vinyl Reissue
The Verve Essential Vinyl Series reissue of Getz/Gilberto celebrates the monumental 1964 jazz masterpiece that introduced the seductive sound of bossa nova to the global stage. This historic LP marked a transcendent meeting of the minds between Stan Getz, one of America's premier "cool jazz" saxophonists, and Brazilian bossa nova pioneers João Gilberto (guitar/vocals) and Antônio Carlos Jobim (piano/composer).
Recorded in New York, the album became a global phenomenon and famously won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1965. It features the definitive, timeless recording of "The Girl from Ipanema", which launched the career of Astrud Gilberto, alongside the classic "Desafinado". Part of Verve's accessible, high-quality Essentials campaign, this 140g black vinyl pressing replicates the iconic original artwork while delivering clean, dynamic analog sound perfect for both new listeners and seasoned collectors.
