"Memory Be a Blade" is the debut full-length album by Stockholm-born singer-songwriter Waterbaby (Kendra Egerbladh). Following her 2023 EP Foam, this 8-track project is described as a "meditation on memory" and a deeply personal exploration of nostalgia and heartbreak. The album was written during a period of overlapping romantic endings. waterbaby originally reflected on a past breakup while starting a new relationship, but when that second relationship also ended during recording, the songs took on a "subconscious heartbreak" and new, unanticipated meanings. Produced by her longtime collaborator Marcus White, the album is "darker and more lush" than her previous work, blending ethereal alt-R&B with classical influences. The instrumentation features a "dreamy ensemble" of strings, horns, and woodwinds, including violin, cello, saxophone, and flute.
