The Streets Like Beds Still Warm is a richly textured, moody, and experimental album from the Brooklyn-based band Wilder Maker. The record is the first part of a concept trilogy that tells the tale of one long, lonely night in the city.
Songwriter Gabriel Birnbaum notes that the album follows a "dream logic" and was created from longer improvisational sessions, with the band editing and writing over them to create more condensed songs. The music draws influence from alt-jazz and ambient artists like Jeff Parker, Anna Butterss, and Brian Eno, while also being compared to artists like Arthur Russell and Van Morrison.
The album features guest appearances from musicians including Joseph Shabason on saxophone, Katie Von Schleicher on synths and guitar, and Cole Kamen-Green on trumpet, who all help to expand the album's sound.
