 Nearly seven years after his death, the final album in Johnny Cash’s American series will be released. Like the previous five records, 'American VI: Ain’t No Grave' was produced by Rick Rubin and features Cash singing other artist’s songs in spare, stripped-down arrangements. Where the earlier records were notable for pairing Cash with unorthodox material, like Soundgarden’s 'Rusty Cage' or 'Hurt' by Nine Inch Nails, the songs on this final installment hew closer to the singer’s country roots. There are covers of songs by Kris Kristofferson ('For the Good Times'), Tom Paxton ('Can’t Help But Wonder Where I’m Bound') and Sheryl Crow ('Redemption Day', along with a Cash original ('I Corinthians: 15:55?).
