Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party was released independently by Hayley Williams on her new label, Post Atlantic. This collection marks the third batch of solo work from Williams, following her 2020 album Petals for Armor and 2021's Flowers for Vases / descansos. It was announced after Paramore completed their contract with Atlantic Records and became an independent band.

The record is considered a powerful exploration of Williams' personal experiences, chronicling a "musical purge of trauma patterns, depression, love, loss, and of course, ego". It features the wit and honesty of her lyricism, exploring themes of self-discovery, negative self-talk, and personal acceptance.

The album's sound spans alternative pop with touches of alternative rock, trip-hop, indie rock, folk, synth-pop, and shoegaze. The release is self-produced, with Williams playing several instruments and collaborating with producer Daniel James on the music.
