No matter how you know the man behind the shades; as rhythm guitarist for Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue, sing/songwriter in the Alpha Band, or as producer for a variety of artists and soundtracks, T Bone Burnett is an artist that requires your attention. This album originally was release in 1986. I discovered it because Burnett had produced the excellent King of America by Elvis Costello. The two released a 45, and briefly toured under the name the Coward Brothers.
Lyrically Burnett is poetically heartfelt just like the soft guitars that paint a portrait of lost love and all its charms. Vocally he brings these songs to life with a deep sense of character, wisdom and yet wonder.
Ten songs and two instrumentals stand the test of time for at this moment they sound just as poignant now as they did at the time of release.
