The self-titled album by Geckøs is a collaborative effort from indie artists M. Ward, Howe Gelb, and Mark McCausland (McKowski), released on September 26, 2025. The album blends the American Southwest with Irish folk and mysticism, drawing from a transatlantic recording process that began with an impromptu performance at a mutual friend's wedding.
The album was born out of a chance meeting at a Tucson wedding, where Ward, Gelb, and McCausland were asked to play for the couple's first dance. Their impromptu recording session for the track "Wedding Waltz" sparked the long-distance project, with members sending ideas back and forth from Ireland to the American Northwest and Southwest. The resulting album is a blend of indie folk, Spanish flavors, and Irish mysticism, described as steeped in story, spontaneity, and surreal charm. A semi-fictional world called the Boneyard, rooted in McCausland's Irish hometown, also influences the album's old-world, storytelling quality.
