"Brut Thoughts" is the third studio album by the East London-born singer-songwriter Murkage Dave. Described by Dave as "millennial meme culture music," the album explores the "inner turbulence" of modern life, internet overstimulation, and the fracturing social contract of late capitalism. Much of the record was shaped by the passing of Dave's father in early 2024 and his recent realization that the church of his childhood was a cult. The lead single, "RNA," specifically addresses masculinity and grief during his time as his father's carer. The album sits between "outsider pop" and "gritty realism," citing influences such as Talking Heads, Sampha, The Smiths, and The Streets.
Recorded nomadically across living rooms and studios in London, Manchester, Berlin, and Copenhagen, notable collaborators include Young Fathers (backing vocals on "RNA") and James Smith of Yard Act (performing as Konopinsky).
