Adore is the fourths studio album by American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, released on June 2, 1998, by Virgin Records. Following the massive commercial success of 1995's multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore marked a drastic sonic pivot for the band, trading their signature heavy grunge guitars for a dark, melancholic fusion of gothic rock, synth-pop, and acoustic folk.
